Mission
 
To promote long-term self-sufficiency among emancipated foster youth by providing them with the skills, resources, and support to make a successful transition to adulthood.
 
Activities
 
  • My First Place : Provides emancipated foster youth access to safe, affordable housing, where they have the opportunity to develop and practice life skills to achieve long-term self-sufficiency.

  • First Steps : Provides training and assistance to prepare youth for emancipation and support them after discharge from foster care.
 
Description
 
An Oakland-based nonprofit founded in 1998 to remedy the lack of services available to youth who are making the difficult transition from foster care to independent living.
