FYA Meeting on Friday September 16th
 

The next Foster Youth Alliance meeting is scheduled for Friday September 16th from 9:30 until 11:30.

Location: Alameda County ILSP 2647 International Blvd. Ste.312

Content: At this meeting the discussion about Transition Services begun at the July meeting will continue. Ideas for action identified at the meeting will be flushed out and coordination and collaboration will be discussed.

Campaign for Safe Transitions Action Alert AB 824
 
Assembly Bill 824 (Judy Chu), which allows youth to participate in THP-Plus housing until their 24th is on the Governor’s desk. If you have not yet sent a letter of support please take the time now to click here and download one that can be adapted and put on your letterhead. Then fax the letter to Governor Schwarzenegger’s office at 916-445-4633. Please also fax a copy of the letter to Assemblywoman Judy Chu at 916 319-2149 and lastly, drop me an email letting me know you have done so at afreeman@acfya.org . Thanks so much for your support.

First Place is seeking an energetic social service professional who enjoys working with youth for the position of Housing Specialist in the Emancipation Training Center. The selected candidate will manage all agency housing resources and referrals, and will be primarily responsible for supporting transition-age foster youth in successfully applying for permanently affordable housing in the East Bay.
